Maybe if I undergo hynosis I can remember it. I only remember the aftermath. We did not have TV's in our school. I have researched the issue by date and time (I was in 2nd grade) and all I can remember of Kennedy is that he was the first presidential celebrity of the modern era; he took his boat out against orders and got it destroyed during the war; his daddy was a rich bootlegger; he blew the Bay of Pigs event; he traded missiles in Turkey for missiles in Cuba (that was a big event); he was a fervent anti-Communist (the last Democrat to believe that Marxism is a worthless ideology); the first avowed Catholic (so Catholics worshiped him and were required to love him); he entrenched the US further into Vietnam against the advice of Eisenhower; he wasn't around long enough to do much damage; his successor LBJ damaged the culture and liberty of Americans. Plus, he had a cute wife and was he ill much of the time he ruled. The coverage of his funeral processions was endless and appeared on my family's back-and-white Hoffman TV instead of everything else. For days. Still, JFK's presidency was not a horribly bad presidency, especially when one has considered the damage and cultural changes created by later presidents. He would certainly be kicked out of the Democrat Party today because he believed, like Reagan, that pulling taxes out of the private-sector economy harms it and therefore the government and therefore the nation. I can tell you in detail what I was doing when the Watts riots occurred, when John Lennon was shot, when humans landed on the moon, and when the towers fell down, however.

This is the best thread on CC. No language problems, no arguments, it's truly international and universal. Very refreshing. American composer, Bulgarian orchestra; less bluesy on the classical side than many American versions, but a masterful treatment by the composer with a fine execution by the musicians.

This comment about Russian's "brown water" has come up several times here at CC. It is not the custom to use purified drinking water for bathing in many areas of Russia. I'm looking for evidence. Obviously Nora had been studying intermediate English. She could sing in Russian, Ukrainian and Spanish. Kiko was probably the smartest of the lot among the men, and probably knows some English as well as Ukrainian and Russian. Obviously they both had a working knowledge of Spanish. Paul's not stupid; my indications are that he's good with English, and Leora can get by. Diana can sing in English; that doesn't mean she's conversant in it. I suspect Stephan could handle both Catalonian and Castilan Spanish. I have not heard any of the couples speaking French or German. If you have any information, please post it on this thread. Excuse me for being verbose (talk too much), but I started a thread in Old Dude's about our language problems on the board. I suggest we move over there for such discussions. Trying to control threads with CamCaps members is worse than herding cats. Or squirrels... ;D (PS: I wouldn't be found in the company with Marta, David, or any of their friends. I can't afford the RLC premium subscription, but I might consider teaching Marta some tricks as long as she was alone and naked --because all squirrels are like humans -- they all have their price, and ultimately, they all sell out. :P)
