   sorry sparkles you are right, and thanks  golfer for correcting me, i looked at it i did not see the blue flames, i should have looked real closer

I have one on mine. It recognizes when it is not in use and shuts off.

Thanks Jabbath, I have never come across that, a really good safety feature!

In fact it is really easy to do on a gas burner. You just have to measure the pressure of the gas at it will change of course when it is use when more gas is needed to heat while you are cooking. 

On electric burners you have to measure the power consumption. Its pretty easy actually.

About burners never heard of that.. but know that the "induction" stoves  (sorry don't know if this is how they are called in english) have that kind of protection

Induction stoves actually do not need this protection at all because they only get hot when a pan or pot is put on them
