If you are struggling to pay bills, have to think twice about what would you buy, paying for your daughter's birthday party etc. then when you don't it removes a layer of stress from your life. That could be replaced with other stress and then there is also the link to control since salary and control are heavily linked. There's been research to show the less control you have in your job the more stress you are under although you would never believe that from some of the bosses I have had but that's a different issue. As someone as already almost said if wealth brings unhappiness then just give me the opportunity to prove it. 1
