A couple weeks ago, Vlad was distraught and crying about something. Not sure if her boyfriend broke up with her at that time, haven't seen him in a long time or that's when they found out they'd have to be leaving. 1

I imagine they did break up because she has been on her own a lot recently hasn't she, whereas Elli has been going out to meet her guy.
