Because trans are not "not normal". So it's an attempt to stop marginalizing trans. Now, if the term was not used as an insult or in a pejorative way, that would probably help its acceptance and adoption. That being said, while I'm happy for all the non-cisgender-cissexual people and supportive of their fight for acceptance, I do miss that time where things were easier on that front. I don't know, maybe because my generation fought for not being labelled I just don't get the newer generations who can't get enough labels to identify to their group.
