I don't know, the theory that Leora has a secret lover has never convinced me. 

Only today, they went out twice, and Paul returned alone twice. It makes no sense that they go out together and then go their separate ways two times. Why do that? And a few nights earlier, Paul had gone out alone to return with Leora, as if he were going to pick her up somewhere. And then Paul definitely ALWAYS knows where Leora is and who she's with. He's always calm, has never shown signs of agitation or anything like that, and even when he returns with Leora or Leora returns home alone there's no animosity whatsoever between them. Some might say Paul simply accepted the situation. Lol, are we joking? If we accept this idea, then describing him as a monster who scares Leora completely falls flat because it wouldn't make sense. Paul is a monster but he allows Leora to have a lover, it just makes no sense. Not to mention that they wouldn't still be living under the same roof by now.
