  1. Odd. I know of several old high school friends who are opera singers. They have no problem with singing songs exquisitely in Italian and German. Musicians really don't care about languages because they speak in the Universal Language.
  2. First spreadsheet I installed ran under CPM but MS-DOS was more user friendly at this time... :) About the new generation of kittens, what is the frequency of the processor that drives ? :D The only CP/M machine I used was a "laptop," an Osborne, that weight about 50 lbs. (22.6 kg). You had to pipe to get stuff in and out to the huge floppy. As for kittens, they have a variable frequency processor: they operate at 900 gigahertz when playing or hunting, and then throttle down to 0 and sleep all day. Kinda like human kids. Me, I'm on Motorola 6502 time unless I'm drunk, in which case I throttle down to 12 hertz while stumbling around. Life is rough when you're down to 2K of free RAM... :o
  3. We know this because they have been seen to prepare many balloons which they store against the livingroom ceiling, and then they suddenly take them out of the apartment. This was true for Halloween, which has become a bit more popular in Russia since the Soviets melted down. They kept a few; probably ones that they like or that didn't sell. They also have many kick-naks that would be available for anyone who owns a gift shop or caters to holiday and other events. Those of us who have witnessed this could be wrong of course, in which case it means that these women have a fetish for balloons because they think these things resemble tits and bubble butts. 4. The history of Mr. Gates is highly interesting. Of the computer entrepreneurs, he certainly is the one who was the best at marketing and business. He started with making a clone of CP/M. Right now, it appears that Maya and Stepan are busy cloning fish and cats.
  5. If you insist on posting in this thread with that avatar picture, I assure you it will get interesting again very quickly... :) ;)
  6. Yes, I meant Anton. It must have been that wild mushroom I ran into whilst foraging for pecans...either that, or the vodka that tbg150 put into his hummingbird feeder...
  7. This little squirrel has been looking for a place to store his nuts for the winter. I think I've found it. :P Ce petit écureuil a été à la recherche d'un endroit pour stocker ses noix pour l'hiver. Je pense que je l'ai trouvé. :P
  8. Looks like a zoo/aquarium to me. Maybe they are starting out small, just like Hewlett, Packard, Jobs, and Wosniak did when they were building computers in their garage...
  9. You got room for a skunk and my goddess? I promise not to spray you unless you get to close to her. ;D If you're gonna take in the goddess, leave some room for Foamy: I'll bring the pecans and the single malt Scotch. I'm ready to party down under. Especially with the Goddess! ;D 8)
  10. That's one hell of a lot of estrogen Efim is breathing in. I wonder if he'll start growing man-boobs soon...
  11. bc.vc does actually work if you give it a few seconds and click off the "ad." I give it about a week before it follows postimage, imagetwist, and the others in the dumpster of dead bit-bytes.
  12. Looks to me as though somebody has never owned a puppy or changed a diaper on a baby human. Personally, as a squirrel with a prostate problem, I try to pee at least 10 times a day in somebody's attic just to piss them off... :D
  13. Both Paul and Leora are kind, playful, and loving to Scooter, just as Maya & Stepan are to their pets. 'Nuff said.
  14. Actually, squirrels don't hibernate. Dammit. Guess I'll be stuck watching Maya's kittens all night and day.
  15. I think it's good that Maya and Stepan work together on these projects, and both love their animals. I also like am400's general demeanor and in-your-face attitude. He'll fit in well, even though I suspect he's been here before... 8)
  16. No good unless we punch it down a couple of times and cover it with a damp cloth. I wonder if there's enough room in there to fit both Maya and little squirrel? ??? :P
  17. It should be done with more moderation than that!
  18. It is now the FSB. Meet the new boss; same as the old boss. --- Il est maintenant le FSB. Rencontrez le nouveau patron; même que l'ancien patron.
  19. Awesome post, Karen. I am sorry I was not there to hear such a master play a piece written by a master on an instrument made by masters. Old cathedrals had a building build by masters in which to worship God; had a pulpit, in which a priest or minister interpreted the words of God; and a pipe organ, which spoke for God. Damn, that was nice to hear.
  20. We were happy as hell over here until the damn Euros blew each other up in two world wars. I personally cannot afford this shit. Let the Brits protect the ocean commerce again, and if not, the Dutch. We're better off here going back to our backwoods pioneering standards. Got any room in the outback for squirrel immigrants? I ain't picky about the weather, cuz at least I won't have to tithe daily to Washington D.C. or the U.N. ..
  21. Did you know? Today (Sunday, Nov. 9,2014) is the 25th anniversary celebration of the destruction of the Berlin Wall? If you are an Old Dude, you would know what a major step this was -- not only for the Germans, but for everyone else. Some of us here were lucky, by birthplace. And many of us older dudes remember a time when we thought that fucking wall would never come down except in a nuclear holocaust. My congratulations to a free people whenever it occurs.
  22. If Walter E. Williams had been President, we wouldn't be in debt $17 trillion dollars. Give me someone who fucking cares about the nation instead of feathering their own nests, and I'll be happy. And I'd prefer if they studied the Constitution in order to defend it rather than destroy it.
  23. You forgot the "All of the Above" category. Winter is coming. I've got to bury my nuts somewhere and I'm not too particular.
  24. I've PMed Admin & posted for paid members about this tonight. I don't really give a shit about RLC; but nobody fucks with this board. I think we can all agree on that.
  25. This is the usual sad news of which we are all painfully aware since RLC got serious about their DMCA rights. It is, after all, their property. Newbies: try http://camcaps.net/random-discussion/rlc-is-getting-serious-about-violating-their-terms-conditions/150/ if you want to know the history of how CC determined it was a strange new world. The number has been in the left-hand corner forever; the braille came later; they watch what we post. They're here.
