Anyone who understands the history of Russia knows that their governments have always been totalitarian; totalitarian governments need total control of their subjected populace. Putin has sought many times to rebuild the Soviet way of live; this requires repression and control of thoughts, just as it is done in North Korea and China. Hence, the institution of an Internet wall. I personally believe we will not see any of these tenants again unless they escape. Remember, Krasnoyarsk was once a gulag town.
