I have a separate spin drive with data whose loss would be a pity, but not dramatic (e.g. some RLC recordings from better times). For this drive i have no copies at all. At least in Windows 8 I can turn off Windows Update and avoid them whereas in Windows 10 Microsoft has them on by default and if you try and turn them off the UAC starts going wonky.
