Party lawmakers are immersed in whittling down a package initially pegged at roughly $3.5 trillion to an amount that centrists can support.

And this in itself is killing the popular and much needed infrastructure bill--leave it to the left.  Why not pass one bill at a time especially since the $3.5 trillion package as Biden has said will probably have to be less anyway.  

Liberal Democrats have linked passage of a roughly $1 trillion infrastructure package that has already cleared the Senate to the social-policy and climate package still under discussion in both chambers and at the White House.
