It is intended to be used as a cord support for the iron cord. Which would keep the cord from dragging over the clothes. How ever Leora has never utilized it. As for the small white tag at the top of the posts. It says " MEN " on it. But Leora does not have the ironing board positioned to where it is centered on the restroom door.
