That's not totally accurate. Mario wrote part of the note with the picture of the two of them. Carla added to it. Carla then wrote the note of the hands. She traced her own hand first, then went to the sleeping Mario and traced Mario's hand herself. He was sleeping deeply and unresponsive at the time. She then finished that note as well.
