  1. Mr Box. If an organization like ISIS formed in the US it would not be tolerated for long and we would squash it or render it impotent as we have the KKK. We didn't run away to another country and rely on others to do our dirty work for us. Mrs. Raza didn't mention that most Muslims don't agree with ISIS because very likely she considers it irrelevant. ISIS is causing death and destruction on a global scale (OK, only the western part of the globe) and they are using Islam as their basis for their jihad and the Muslim populous is doing little or nothing about it. They are fleeing here and to Europe and nowhere else. The Jihadi Terrorists are hiding among them as they flee here because the "non-violent" Muslims won't do or say anything about it. If we are to only fight the terrorists how are we to tell the difference between the nice peace-nicks and the violent peace-nicks. It would be easier if the nice Muslims would point out the bad guys among them and do something about it. Until they take part of the onus, of this problem, on their own shoulders the whole Muslim community is going to be suspect. I can't say what Trump's actual plans are for this (and I am willing to bet neither do you) but I can tell you that the other candidates haven't even begun to deal with the threat. They are still trying to find a political correct name for a deadly problem or redirecting the blame to an inanimate object; and more than that they are going to make the problem even worse by accelerating the migration of these folks here (as is Hilary Clinton's plan) and in Europe because they are, at the moment, powerless to stop it and things are getting worse unbelievable fast. We already have pockets of Muslims here in the US who are trying to establish Sharia Law to the exclusion of the laws of the land. I believe the same thing is even worse where you live. The war has already started and they are carrying it here. This last part you brought up really bothers me. Do you not realize that they are and have been fully aware of our western values? The ones who fully integrated themselves into our society knew them just as long as the ones who won't. That is what they want to destroy and replace with their own. Many of our best values have been around for nearly 1000 years. How much more time do they need? Where do you think many of the radicalized converts come from? Have you not heard the British accents from some of the ones who decapitated the hostages on video. Where do you think the educated among them come from; they don't have any Universities of their own because they haven't bothered to build them. They have the money but not the motivation to do so. They can take it from us. We will gladly share with them - and do...but never the other way around. They have always been happy to take advantage of what we have to offer. Some integrate well and become contributing members of society, but others have taken what we have offered and used it against us. No other society, that I can think of, has ever done that; especially one old as the present followers of Islam.
  2. Some of you out there have been repeating the rhetoric of the President and Hilary, et al, concerning the use of the term "Radical Islam." You must stop doing this and start thinking for yourselves. Political correctness has always been a problem in the face of our right to free speech. It also hampers our ability to properly identify what we actually see, it dilutes the importance of an accurate responce to any situation and allows the enemies of our country and society to hide behind the apron strings of our hamstrung government. Since those same folks would call -or are calling- me an Islamaphobe for my views on the Jihadist movement within that religion I will give you a lesson by Raheel Raza, a Sunni Moslem woman. I have other sources for my views on this if this interests you. I am not a repeater of heresay and dirt and maybe this will help you understand what you are seeing. Please watch the whole thing and think about it before responding.
  3. This is a depressing article. It should generate some good dialogue. http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2016/06/20/gutfeld-orlando-s-doom-most-depressing-article-will-ever-share-share-it-anyway.html?intcmp=hpbt4 Ignore the part about Fox news. In this age of multimedia, of which I have been a contributing participant in the rise of the necessary technologies, I don't have cable TV, we do have the high speed internet though. My family has relearned to read. We watch movies and documentaries but I detest going to a friend or family's house and having to listen to the diatribe spewed forth from the presenters. So don't watch the video, read the article. I am sorry for the non english speakers. I wish I could help.
  4. Did I inhale? Maybe; pass it back and let me make sure.
  5. Perhaps this article shold be read. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/sam-harris/losing-our-spines-to-save_b_100132.html . then go watch the movie, Fitna, on youtube. then listen to of Geert Wilders' speeches. Islam is a very real threat.
  6. What's with the tattoo on her shoulder? I've seen this on other girls, especially on periscope, and I suspect it is not a decoration and I would rather not say what I thnk it is in mixed public.
  7. In case you haven't heard about Jeremy Scahill, he is journalist who is an expert in national security and foreign policy issues. He has written three books, all bestsellers, which outline much of his research. I recommend that all here at CC watch this video and keep watching others if you can.
  8. Hah! Wait...I ain't old. Just kidding. Don't worry I have no illusions. I rarely see women on anything larger than a Vespa scooter (except for biker chicks who weigh as much as their Harleys) so to see a woman in a burka on a bike that can easily exceed 150mph is kinda impressive in more than one way. Also I am aware of the fact that males are known to hide inside a burka.
  9. Reminds me of Bill Cosby's skit on Noah.
  10. HF, I knew Woody lived north of me but I didn't know you were also a Texan. You must live near Houston. My parents found leaks they never knew about and my sister, who lives near Galveston, had to mop up a mess in her apartment. But other than that my friends and family escaped the calamities. I lived through Hurricane Carla and actually had fun; but then I didn't have to pay for any of the damages...
  11. Thanks HF. I wasn't in the danger zone. I did house a few friends who were affected by it though. Neither of their homes were damaged but it was few days before they could get to them.
  12. When I first started using computers we still used punch tape on teletype machines and dialed in to Soutwestern Bell time sharing systems. The next year I took a Data Processing class (had to be a junior with two years of algebra). My teacher was a Mr. Sacket (claims he was so old, he was on first name basis with the inventor of the abacus >chuckle chuckle<) who helped bring about Burroughs and Sperry Rand computing systems. In the intro, we learned how to use a Vacuum tube computer with Nixie-tube readouts. Programming was done with patch cables and switches. It was 6ft tall, 18in deep, and 12ft long and you had to wait about 2 hrs for it to heat up properly. Our main course taught us how to punch, read, and sort punch cards, write programs in COBOL, RPG, APL, and FORTRAN 4. None of which have been used for almost 30 yrs. We were encouraged to come to class in a shirt and tie. In this class were twins named Bart and Brett Mixon. Brett went on to doing special effects and animation for T2: Judgement Day, Last Action Hero, True Lies, and Mortal Combat among a huge list of other movies and TV shows. Just a shameless brag about some High School friends.
  13. I wonder what's wrong. It should be very straight forward.
  14. Perhaps they are in the wrong format. PNG usually works best.
  15. Make sure the picture is in one of your directories like "Downloads". Then, when you reply to whatever, look at the bottom of the reply window and you will see "Drag files here to attach, or choose files" I choose files.
  16. I saw the funniest thing a few months back -well, about a year ago. I work at a University here in Texas and I was walking across the street and turned to look at the sound of a crotch rocket (a Honda interceptor I think) quickly decelerating and, lo and behold, I beheld a woman in a burka, riding it ...alone and in control. Now there's something you don't see very often and I had to admit I felt a bit of pride for the brevity she showed doing it. She had her clothes tied down so it didn't get caught in the machinery and her eyes were uncovered; she wasn't trusting everything to Allah. I couldn't help myself, I gave her a bit of a flourish as she went by and I thought she may have smiled back. While I have no illusions about the threat the muslims pose, I have seen a few women shed the bonds at an incredible risk to their lives. As an American and Texan, I have to respect that, given how much emotional distress they had to surmount to do that. I hope it starts an avalanche; though I won't be holding my breath.
  17. Foamy T. the other thing girls like is when they see you as loyal. They either see that as a challenge or they feel safe and free to do what girls do when men aren't around. The latter is better in most cases. My wife only ran off one girl. We were at a pool party at some apartments where we lived. I was playing my bass with some cool cats and sitting on my amp and this girl, who couldn't have much more than 18yo, was drunk and trying (she was vertically challenged) to give me a lap dance. When she dropped her drawers and stuck the poodle (Frank Zappa "Dirty Love" and "Stinkfoot" "...the poodle bites, the poodle chews it...") in my face my wife intercepted her and escorted her home...with some pretty severe admonishments. My buddies, who were single young bucks, just stared at me, shook their heads, and asked what I did or said to her to make her do that. I am not particularly handsome nor do I have money and I had only said a few words to her, in passing, at the keg when I went to get a refill, so not a clue. All I could think was that my wife was still young and beautiful -skinny, graceful, Korean woman with big boobs- (...I still think she is beautiful...) and liked to openly flirt with me when she's had a few, and neither of us were wearing any jewelry i.e. wedding bands. I talk to much.
  18. I should have quoted the reference to this reply, but since I didn't it is in regards to you reply concerning the European consortium. Don't forget, Woody, we are doing the same thing. Through self inflicted ignorance and passivity we are slowly succombing to that which we detest. The mindset of the general populace is going have to change dramatically before that will happen. Why is it that our millenials always seem emulate the lowest of our society such as mediocre work ethic, making others pay for our stuff (especially taught in business schools), and never taking responsibilty for our mistakes and fixing them. Have you seen the way they dress, hear the way they speak, their lack of respect toward authority right or wrong, etc. It's because we parents, as a whole, have allowed them to grow unchecked and undisciplined since the 60's. We brought this on ourselves and it is going to be a fight to fix it. Remember the video, you posted, of a girl's speech to Hillary? Though I agreed with her mostly, I couldn't listen to the whole thing because she couldn't stop adding unnecessary adjectives and other pointless insults (a benefit only for her own ego), and stick to the point. These are things I learned when I was in Junior High grammer and writing classes. As I do here when I write. I agree with her, but undisciplined rants rarely achieve their goals.
  19. Yes, I do remember the Solidarity movement. I also remember our fight for independance from England. Both were for good reasons. I also haven't forgotten that, while the solidarity movement helped, in it's way, bring down communism in Russia, it has since become mostly a labor union with about the same membership as our AFL-CIO (labor union). Our movement to freedom, on the other hand, became the most powerful country in the world that was instrumental in stopping the German invasion of Europe and Russia (and Japanese imperialism). Something that your country (or continent) was not going to be able to do. Yes, we have our problems but then we are a fairly large country with lots of folks.
  20. I don't know how old you are but TBG and I have been around long enough to see many changes. I have visited most European countries, both for work and for play, and I had fun, but I also had problems with bigotry; except in England (UK). As a rule the older generation were friendly and helpful while many of the young were rude and in some cases inconsiderate. I found them to be politically driven towards that. Many young Germans have forgotten about the horrible imperialistic invasions of WWI and II and that after WWII we helped rebuild their infrastructure; Japan's too. The US spends a hell of a lot more in caring for the downtrodden of the world than ANY other country in the world; that includes the Vatican . Our country is comprised of immigrant folks from every European, African, and Asian country. They are included as Americans too, though some think they should be given special consideration. Our problems are with the ones who snuck over and are living on the government dole, and want us to change for them. It isn't just Mexico and the middle east, it is also China that sneaks people in; though we don't say as much because the media doesn't make it an issue and it stays quiet. We need to close our borders because things have gotten out of hand and it is time to slow down and re-assess how we are going correct our homeland problems before we fail. Don't ever forget that if the US fails so will EVERY other country in the world...even the one where you live. You may not think so but it is so. You know the immigration problems in Europe are terrible and yet you are yelling at us and calling us racists and bigots for wanting to stem the tide before it is to late . You can't even defend yourselves because you gave up your rights to self-protection or just aren't motivated to make it stop. We Americans, are getting ready to step up to the plate and put a stop to the issues in our county, as we think you should do before you start telling us how we should act. When, or if, your country becomes as deep and broad a cultural melting pot as ours maybe you'll understand, until then keep in mind European countries have a bigger problem than we do and hopefully we won't let ours get bigger.
  21. My first CD was one I burned on the first cd burner our company bought. It was Frank Zappa's Apostrophe Album and was sometime around '93 (windows 3.1, 486DX processor, ) using the brand new mscdex multimedia extension and a protoboard equipped with one of the first PC audio codecs.
  22. "These are the bear necessities, the simple bear necessities..."
  23. A few comments up Albacore said he is Maccentric and prefers using Chrome as his browser. I suggested using the VLC player because it plays everything, except M4P format, (Apple's protected format) and can also be used for format conversion. Both apps originated in Linux (UNIX) land and were ported over to the other OSes. So when it comes time to get another machine you should consider a machine with Ubuntu Linux. Linux is free and has thousands of techies and advanced users all over the world contributing to it; as opposed to the several hundred software geeks of MS and Apple paid to sell you their stuff. Now that RLC is boring you should go investigate the linux world and see for yourself. It is alot more user freindly than you think. AND did I mention it is FREE. Oh, also, like your cell phone, it has an app store built in.
  24. the MBPro is a good machine. I agree with Albacore on the browser choice though. Just for the record, though, both VLC and Chrome (Chromium) came from Linux land. You might keep that in mind when it's time to migrate to another machine.
