  1. Everybody: a friendly reminder--- keep on topic or post where it belongs. Insults and flames belong in the Rants & Flame Wars thread. Thank you.
  2. SierraTM: RLC will probably get the experts for the job... They've been specializing in this industry for decades....
  3. You nailed it. I can't agree more.
  4. I can't stand that place. Half the time you have to swim through the ocean of tears. I mean, misery loves company but this "healing period" is damn long. I think of it this way: If Leora was here with us she wouldn't want us to grieve; she'd want us to remember the good times we shared with her... RIP, RLC:
  5. It is currently illegal to manufacture "pornography" in Ukraine and Russia. We can assume that the price to be "overlooked" by officials will necessarily go up this Autumn when the new Russian laws go into effect. I don't believe it's an unfounded rumor to say that for some Big and Substantial reason, RLC has decided to dump its cash cow (the Russian Apartments) because they fear that their Russian apartments will become huge liabilities. They're taking the hit early.
  6. Of course, you could switch the year to 1973 for Soylent Green. I'm sure the majority of the members here would love to have some "furniture." 😁
  7. Hey, Rod001. Other than Silent Running, 1972 was a bad sci-fi year. I can't find anything worthwhile that could be considered literature as good as this movie was. Don't get me wrong, it's a great film, even without competitors. Certainly the only one that year. If you can suggest another, let me know.
  8. IMHO, Luca's first film was his greatest -- THX 1138, But that doesn't fit the year, because it was 1971. (His original version was a school project, done earlier.) The cops were fantastic. But they certainly weren't as lovable.
  9. It was a really fun and great sci-fi movie. Pretty much a classic for the genre, but primarily because Dern was great, the script was great, and Huey, Dewey and Louie worked together as a fantastic team.
  10. Hatha yoga is just cute. I think Masha is now ready for Squirrel Tantric.
  11. I have spent years specializing on the study of RLC people. Now that it is an inordinately quiet site, I am still learning all the details about VHTV tenants. I appreciate that I can pick up some clues from you veteran experts, and highly appreciate your posts and opinions about whatever the hell is going on there.
  12. For myself and many others, we find it more fun to just make stuff up. It's all a soap opera or sex fantasy anyway.
  13. There is no official message in the RLC's home page ticker-line regarding their fate. Of course, that means just about nothing, as we all know. They were slow in explaining the Great Red Massacre.
  14. Regarding my comments about Socialism: Let me just refine Socialism to be called what it is: "State Capitalism," where the state controls major means of production of goods and services, and redistributes them by political whim. This is done to enhance the political power of the ruling elite, and economic liberty is often taken from those who generate the wealth and given to those who do not generate wealth but can be trained to become large, dependent and dependable voting blocks. It's not unlike the United States. For example, the US Federal government controls the primary retirement system, the primary Medical system, the public education system, the student loan system (all of which were problems when run by Free-Enterprise and Free-Markets, but are now "fixed and operate perfectly" ) The Obama Administration even nationalized GM and gave it to the Unions to run. Of course, the English did that with formation of British Leyland Motors. That worked out great, didn't it? Let's just say the UK's version is "Socialism Lite," new and improved. Buy it or else. But at least you "voted" for it. (Russia and China have it worse, along with Venezuela and North Korea. They are "State Capitalist Extra Bold" and certainly need to control their people by force and dictates. And I miss my RLC ladies because of it.)
  15. Here my UK friends can discuss the impending clamp-down on their subject's Internet freedom. It's not as bad as Russia, but such restrictions always increase, on the grounds that it's good for the "body politic." Orwell predicted cameras EVERYWHERE, but obviously no one in England reads the work of their own authors. Personally, on a visit there in 2003, the place was splattered with cameras and I found it creepy. (Fast forward, they're all over the US now, too.) Our TVs are still not licensed, which would cause massive rebellion here. If some kind cousins from across the pond would like to explain to the rest of the world what the hell their Almighty Socialist Government is doing, please do it here and don't be afraid to discuss it freely in this thread. Do it while you still can. I fear some of our beloved UK members may decide to refrain from giving their government such access to personal information, and will drop away from us unless they use a proxy service. 😥
  16. I have never met a fresh vegetable that cannot be grilled, and many potatoes and others are happy when wrapped in aluminum foil in a water smoker. For corn, leave the husk on, soak it in ice water, then roll it around or water smoke it with meats. It doesn't care. Vegetables don't care. They're dead, and a little fire won't hurt them one bit and ensures that they won't be boring as hell -- which many of them usually are when boiled on a stove. Protect your reputation: It's best to tell your guests how difficult it is to do such masterful culinary work like barbecuing. Is it difficult? You betcha. You let them know how difficult it is. Have you ever smoked a store-bought ham improperly? Of course not, but only because you are a master. A novice will just screw it up. Express to them that barbecuing even ham is extremely miserable work, requiring years of practice to learn the craft, and hours for proper execution. They should not try this at home. Only masters like us can create a meal such as we can do. .
  17. Anybody here who has cooked with a "big green egg?" That's the oval Asian style cooker. I have a friend once who cooked great stuff with it and was a religious fanatic when it came to extolling its virtues. I haven't tried one, but I'll add that to my wish list along with the Traeger, the large wood pit, and the smoke house.
  18. I am fortunate that I can barbecue any time I like, but when it's 28F and raining, I wait for the weather to clear. Other than that, the Thanksgiving 20 lb. turkey and the Christmas ham always happen. Cold weather just means you'll go through more wood and charcoal. (I'd buy a Traeger if I lived there. I've got Scottish blood, so you guys are my cousins, and weather cannot stop us.)
  19. Nonsense, happyone. Stay here. Personally, I would love to have a Traeger along side my old machine, and I'd also like a pit in the ground (large, for pig roasts), and a cold smoke house for cheese and dried salmon. Stay here, dammit. I've had pros who don't think I barbecue anything correctly because I use charcoal instead of pure wood. Some people think that real barbecue cannot be done if it includes grilling over fire. That's also nonsense. If you're cooking outside with a fire like our distant ancestors did, that's good enough for me. I'm certain that absolutely no offense was intended.
  20. I've done slices of bologna, and it was quite the treat. I've also done large Portobello mushrooms and they come out tasting like a tender steak. I considered building a vertical smoker, but never got around to it. 10 points for you Thestarider for having the tenacity to build a real one. The store-bought vertical smokers are either cheap thin-walled crap or highly expensive. They simply don't last unless you spend the big bucks or built your own from decent metal.
  21. CamCaps Premium is $20 per year. Not reoccurring. I'll need to advise Admin about this situation. Maybe straighten him out so we can buy a bigger CamCaps Corporate Yacht.
  22. Dude. You're not supposed to take $29.95 for access. Now days, you're supposed to require a continuing subscription for access at $20 per month, reoccurring. Otherwise, you must only show fuzzy thumbnails for newbie visitors. For more wisdom on how to operate a website, just contact me here. Paypal or Amazon gift cards are accepted, but I'm in need of your credit card so I can buy pecans monthly from Amazon's Whole Foods subsidiary, you will have un-ending Premium access, and you will not be bothered with renewing notices. I ask only a small amount, so it will not show up on your credit card or banking statements very much. This automated pay stuff is just so convenient, ain't it?
  23. Elect me Master of the Universe and I will switch CamCaps over to Unifon English. Problem solved. After that, we switch all qwerty keyboards over to Dvorak. Another problems solved. Then I'll make Leora, Chloe, and Eva my Mistresses of the Universe, and have them post their pictures and videos on CamCaps so we can continue our worship ceremonies without interference from RLC. Another problem solved. Then I'll ban myself tomorrow for posting off-topic crap.
