It didn't work well for Ancient Rome when the Germanic tribes flooded in, either! 😁 -
Thoughts on Illegal immigration?

I honestly do not care about anyone's opinion here -- at least, not as a mod. Neither does StnCld. I might vehemently disagree politically with you, but I'd never hold your political or religious or race or sexual preferences or you in-grown toenail against you in this or Rants and Flames. We are all brothers or sisters or siblings of one sort or another in Old Dudes and the apartment threads, and that's important. So happyone is correct. It's unmoderated, therefore no moderator is legitimate anyway. To keep on topic, why should the US have no sovereign borders or immigration requirements when nearly all other countries have borders? -

I'm that old but my Body Mass Index is excellent, since I specialize in the eating of the two most healthy food groups: Pecans & Single Malt Scotch. Still, at my age, I fall out of trees a lot...I can't imagine why... -
Sorry, but "an error ocurred" on the video. 😟 And yes, you are correct. It sucks. Any decent college professor will tell you that most of their students are unprepared for college. It might have to do with the take-over by the Federal Government, the fact that school vouchers and therefore competition is not allowed, and the continued guaranteed employment of lazy, uneducated teachers which ultimately drag down the good efforts of the excellent teachers. Another factor is that education, which was once considered an important consideration when raising a child, is looked at as a responsibility of the Almighty Nanny State instead of the parents. SAT scores have yet to rise back up to 1972 levels, when the Federal control of school funding took its toll.

She hasn't gotten ready for ballet classes or the gym. She changed her work-out regimen to doing core exercises. Often in the guest room, to our great benefit. 😀 It's normal for people to gain weight as they start to hit 30. Maya's gained, too, but I still like these women because they're not plastic Barbies. And whatever anybody thinks, they'll never be standard Walmart shoppers or xhamster models...at least I hope not. -
RLC Needs Overhead Cams

Put a few on the floors and bottoms of showers, pointing up. Thank you. Or maybe install a cam on the dogs, cats, and bunny rabbits. 😛 -
Here we piss and moan about CC Mods

Nope. I don't care about unmoderated forums. Not my job. Couldn't care less. I just show up here on occasion when I feel like watching a train wreck. -

Trump Will be Impeached
Foamy T. Squirrel replied to itsme's topic in Worldwide Political Discussions
Actually, his ratings are higher than Obama's were. Maybe because Americans actually think there's no need to face another 8 years of failed economic policy and insane foreign policy which clearly benefited our enemies at the expense of our allies. -
I was invited to dinner with a family who live on Douglas Island, across from Juneau. The woman started the barbecue. We had a few drinks. Then she told her boys to go get dinner. They went down to the water with their fishing poles. Within 5 minutes, they came back with the nicest, biggest salmon I've ever seen. They were on the fire within another five minutes. They know how to prep and cook fish properly up there, for damn sure.

There's no need to pay for a big cruise liner trip to Alaska if you are in decent health and young and adventurous. The cheapest way to get to Alaska is to check in at Pier 48 at Seattle and take the Alaska Marine Hwy. Hopefully, their big ship Columbia is still doing that route. If you can handle it, choose deck-passage. There you can lay and meet a bunch of other back-packers. With permission from the captain, you can also post up your self-supporting tent. Bring at least booze to make new friends with, and be prepared to share stories (even if they are, as Harley suggests, exaggerations and outright lies.) They're also a nice bar on board. The scenery is so awesome, nobody wanted to go to sleep, so we all lived on Irish Coffees from the bar and walked around in a wondrous daze. It was as good a cruise as I'll ever really need to pay for, and really cheap compared to the Love Boat stuff. There are cabins available, of course, but as I remember there were about 50 people on deck passage and we all have a great time together.

Harley -- I usually do C&R with bass unless they're too worn out to recover, but I always make an exception with Salmon, trout, or deep sea stuff. Start the campfire! Ashley -- My first trip to AK took me through the Inland Passage, up to Skagway, onto the White Pass & Yukon RR to Whitehorse, Yukon. Thence to Fairbacks, to Anchorage and then back to CA. The second trip was pretty much Skagway and Dyea. It was about a week after solstice, so I took pictures of wildflowers hand-held at mid-night with 25 ASA Kodachrome and a manual Pentax MX, and they came out perfect. Damn, that was a nice film to work with, and that camera was the best on I've ever had. If you get a chance, get to Alaska. It's a must see for anybody's bucket list.

My, but aren't you a young filly. Back when I was a young stud I backpacked through California and Alaska. But now I'm an old fart and restrict myself to decent weather and a day pack, and I finally opted for a used smaller motor-home. This way, my worn out body doesn't have to sleep on rocks and I have a near-by pot to piss in. It's all fun. I've never hunted except with a camera, but I enjoy fishing because it gives me time outside and an excuse to drink beer. For what I've seen, I'm no where near Harley when it comes to fishing skills, and my doctor gets pissed at me if I hike alone. Youth has advantages. I love sailing, and boats in generally. Hopefully, the pictures for those items will keep on coming.

Technically, that's the reflection of Half-Dome on Mirror Lake, and the more distant one could be North Dome (?). We were a bit disoriented after we got there. After a while, all these tall glacier-etched mountains all look alike.
-
I did the Mirror Lake photo two weeks ago. I didn't do the pecan photo. I haven't got the patience to be artsy with them since they'd be gone before I could do the creative artwork on the layout.
-
Yep, and that's Mirror Lake in Yosemite. So dig into the pecan stash all you want...

Don't be afraid to post this sort of information in our technical issue section regarding "how to post." Certainly it will keep RLC busy spending money to issue DMCA take-downs to all these 3rd parties, but it will also keep them busy. The Internet is a fluid environment and must be constantly updated, just like the Commodore 64 and the 300-baud modem that CC uses for its server network... 😁

I'm somewhat a fan of World War 1 aviation, especially Zeppelin airships. That section takes up a great deal of my bookshelves.
