It's possible and this was also my guess. If you look back, they haven't had a single ounce of affection or flirting towards each other. So either they are family or really good friends but for me it's safe to assume that anything involving the two of them together will be 100% off the table.

Yes, Ruby said how it works. She also said that she's not there for the money (maybe you believes her).
