Usually most can only stay 90 Days but their are exceptions they make if they get a work related visa or a Student Visa then they can be out of the Country for up to 180 Days. Then they have to wait 90 Days before they can leave to come back. 6 Months is the most they can stay at any one time. If they don't return back home when they are supposed to then they can be denied further Visa's for up to 2 years or more for breaking the rules. Someone from Russia or Ukraine could explain it a lot better. In Canada we don't need Visa's for Travel. We come and go as we please.
