You don't understand how our government works. We have three co-equal branches of government. The Executive, the Legislative, and the Judicial branches. The Legislative branch does not have authority to tell the Executive branch what to do, nor does the Executive branch have authority to tell Legislative branch what to do. We do not have a parliamentary type government like you do. Both the Legislative and Executive branches are directly responsible to the American people in elections. I think you need a new source for your info about the U.S. In previous impeachment hearings the president's party was allowed to call witnesses and cross examine the prosecutions' witnesses. In Adam Schiff's impeachment hearings the Democrats called 18 witnesses and the Republicans were allowed to call none. Also, Adam Schiff limited the Republicans' ability to cross examine the Democrats' witnesses.
SPYING 1
8 minutes ago, Amy3 said: The President of the USA is a whole branch of government in and of itselt. The presidency is an equal branch of government along with the legislature and judicial branches. The House of Representatives has the power to impeach a president, but that does not mean that the president is then rightfully removed from office, no, the case then goes to the Senate for a political trial, and if 2/3 of the Senate agrees, the president is removed from office. In the USA one is innocent until proven guitly. The president does not have to particiapte in the House of Representives hearings or do anything to defend himself against their impeachment proceedings. The president also has the power to invoke certain priviliages to silence his staff if necessary to protect the power of the presidency. The president nor anyone else in the USA, has to prove himself innocent. All the House of Representaitves has to do is get a simple majority of representatives to agree to impeach the president regardless of the facts. It only takes a simple majority to impeach and they can really do it for almost any reason that they deem is a high crime or misdemenour. The Senate then has to power to see through the bullshit and establish the rules for the trial in the Senate. This is not a normal court trial. It is a political trial and the rules are to be dictated by the majority in power. In this case, the Senate determined that this impeachment was primarily a political impeachment not worthy of further escalation. Had the House of Representaitves been able to actually sway a decent number of Republican representaives, the Senate would have been under much greater pressure to remove the president. But alas! They did not! They failed to sway even 1 Republican vote to impeach, which meant they failed to prove their case and they went forth with a purely partisan polical impeachment. This is similar to what the Republicans did to Bill Clinton, except in that case they actually did prove that he lied to a court. But, even that was not enough to sway enough Democrats to convict him in the Senate, which was a majority Republican, by the way. The case fell short of removing him from office and the Republicans paid the political price for their adventure in impeachment, just like the Democrats will too. The basic structure of the USA goverment is stable and fully functional. This is the checks and balance that the founding fathers implemented. The buidling blocks of our republic are solid, it's the politicians and the revenue driven news media that want you to believe the sky is falling. President Trump did not make himself king, who can do whatever he wants and his Republican cronies will excuse him for anything. That is not a fair statment to make. All that happened was that in this case, the Democrats overreached and the Republicans corrected their imbalance. If Trump does something else that leads the House of Representaitves to want to impeach him, they are more then welcome too. President Trump is not a king and he does not have unlimited power to do whatever he wants to. Poeple who say this have a fundemental misunderstanding of what happened in this case and how the USA system of goverment works and has worked since the very beginning.
