They thought they could sell that lie because Masha was having a stream of people come and go whom she did not appear to even know. Leora and The Jerk pretended they did not even know each other and barely had ANY verbal conversation. It was not until they both magically appeared at the coffee pot together at around 3:00am in the morning that it was clear they had been texting each other all night while pretending to be asleep. Without some sexual interaction with another individual, their apartment becomes no different from any of the thousands of porn sites available for free on the internet. Leora has somehow sustained a base of people who have pledged to keep her statistics up in the ratings by continuing to watch her apartment even when it has been vacant for days at a time.
