Based on my experience, you will see either a large blank space, equal to the size of the picture or GIF, the file name of the picture or GIF or neither of these two. If you see either of the first two and click on the large, white space or the file name, you should download the media you can't see at the moment. If you click on anything else, you will probably end up with a htm or html file, which you don't want. Sometimes, if you don't see either of the first two options above, a page refresh (F5, but there are other ways, as well), will allow you to see them. I hope this is helpful.
