I think the issue is with the girl currently sleeping on the couch.  She is Sandra's guest.  But there is no room for her.  It appears that Sandra wants Arthur and Carol to go elsewhere tonight but obviously, Arthur is not ready to make room for that girl.  They are currently fucking in the bathtub.  

And Serge seems to be totally useless in this situation.  He sits there and watches the train going by.  He should be the one trying to talk to his girl.  But it shows his inhability to control his wife
