I used google translate, among others, and when it wouldn't translate, I figured it was a made-up word and I wouldn't find a definition on a search. So, on your "advice"…here's what Wiki has to say. Gopnik is a pejorative stereotype describing a particular subculture in Russia, Ukraine, and other former Soviet republics to refer to young men or women of sometimes lower-class suburban areas coming from families of poor education and income.
