From BBC news

The US has been accused of redirecting 200,000 Germany-bound masks for its own use, in a move condemned as "modern piracy".

The local government in Berlin said the shipment of US-made masks was "confiscated" in Bangkok.

The FFP2 masks, which were ordered by Berlin's police force, did not reach their destination, it said.

Andreas Geisel, Berlin's interior minister, said the masks were presumably diverted to the US.

The US company that makes the masks, 3M, has been prohibited from exporting its medical products to other countries under a Korean-War-era law invoked by President Donald Trump.

Well lets hope all the other countries will remember how the USA behaved during the crisis... I am pretty sure other countries can supply us with masks too. When we alread talk politically here I think it is possible that even the world alliances may change after the crisis. At the moment the USA does everything to drive Europe and maybe even Canada in the arms of China and Russia. At least these countries do not steal already paid goods from their allies...

Well as now our police lacks masks for protection we at first should save ressources and no longer put them out there to protect US facilities. Furthermore I suggest to confiscate all medical equipment made in 3M facilities in France and Germany. Maybe it would be a way to force these facilities to produce masks...

Starlight 28: You haven't mentioned that Germany invented Socialized Medicine. In the 1930's.

Canada and the EU: You are welcome to have Putin or Xi provide for your national defense, and have them provide charity and supplies every time there is a disaster. Nothing requires you to do business with the United States.

And yes, this thread has now become a useless political blame blog when it should be more of a discussion about medical and biological science.

Na discussions about turning off the power we supply the US will do the trick.  It works both ways.  Oh and the media for medical masks that you need for your hospitals comes from one and only one paper mill located in Nanaimo, British Columbia CANADA...so fuck you!

This doesn't even deserve a comment. it is just plain a ridiculous statement of fear.

Not really, Trudeau suggested just yesterday that the border be closed to all nurses and medical personal crossing into work in the Detroit metro area from Windsor.
