SierraTM
Il y a 6 heures, TBG 150 a dit : I heard reports today about it being pretty age related as to the severity of it. Persons 65 and up suffered more than younger and healthier bodies. The less informed are already making this a big political thing. Everything is blamed on politics today. Yes, this virus is less deadly compared to SARS but more infectious. It will be a problem for those people who are older, those who are much younger (infants) and those with health issues. According to research done in China, being exposed to a carrier for 15 secs or more can get you infected. Some take days to recover while some take weeks. Wearing masks alone will not stop you from getting infected tbh. Most healthy people can overcome their infection with just their own immunity system and medication. COVID-19 Coronavirus Outbreak Also, the SARS outbreak in 2002-2003 had about 8100 cases with almost 800 deaths. That's nearly a 10% mortality rate. But, in 2012, in Saudi Arabia, there was an outbreak of the MERS coronavirus. It "only" caused about 2500 cases, but over 34% of them died. The 1918 Spanish Flu was the worst. The global death toll for the Spanish flu is thought to be 50 million people, but it might have been as high as 100 million. In other words, between 3% and 5% of the world's population died. In the United States alone 675,000 people died. One third of its population became infected. This Coronavirus or COVID-19 they don't even have a vaccine so who knows how far this will go and the devastation it will cause but rest assured this is likely far from being over. History has a way of repeating itself every so many years. 1
letsdothis
Even though the WHO has not, yet, declared this outbreak a pandemic, (Why won't the WHO officially declare a coronavirus pandemic?), as of 2/26, they did say this. "The global spread of covid-19 seems to have exploded in recent days, with outbreaks revealed in Iran and Italy and a massive increase in cases in South Korea. Tedros Ghebreyesus, director-general of the World Health Organization, has warned that such cases “show that the window of opportunity we have for containing this virus is narrowing”. In fact, it may already have shut. On 21 February, epidemiologists warned that we are failing to detect two-thirds of infected people travelling globally, “potentially resulting in multiple chains of as-yet undetected human-to-human transmission outside mainland China”. Some of those chains have now been detected, and, ominously, many cases can’t be traced to their source."

happyone
Here is a recent study of the flu vs coronavirus (given the data that we currently have) Is the Coronavirus Worse Than the Flu? We Asked Experts WWW.HEALTH.COM Is the coronavirus worse than the flu this year? Experts compare the viruses' symptoms, transmission, and fatality rates. So overall, which is worse: coronavirus or flu? That's not really an easy question to answer, says Dr. Brown. "It depends on what you mean by worse,” he says. “More easily spread? Then it appears to be coronavirus. Causes more cases of serious illness. Then it’s flu.”
